AC service FAQs
Clear answers about cooling problems, the HydroKleen clean and arranging a visit.
Cooling & airflow
The AC is running, but the room is not cooling. Does it need cleaning?
A dirty filter, coil or blower can restrict performance, but cleaning is not the answer to every cooling problem. Check that the remote is in COOL mode and note what the unit does. Tell us about weak airflow, unusual noises or a recent change so we can assess whether it needs a clean, fault diagnosis or both.
Why is the airflow weaker than before?
Build-up on filters and the blower fan can restrict airflow. Our service includes the fan, coil and drain, with airflow checks before and after cleaning. If the fan itself is not operating correctly, we will explain the further attention needed.
Is a filter wash the same as a HydroKleen service?
No. The accessible filter is one part of the air path. The split-system checklist also covers the evaporator coil, scroll fan, surrounding surfaces, drainage, sanitising, reassembly and checks. See the 19-point checklist for the full scope.
Should I choose a bigger AC to get a cooler room?
Choose capacity for the room and installation, not simply the largest unit. An oversized unit can cycle on and off without removing enough moisture. Share the room dimensions, sunlight, use and installation constraints so the equipment can be matched to the space.
Smells, water & unusual sounds
Why does the AC smell when it starts?
Deposits inside the unit, a drainage problem or moisture elsewhere in the room may contribute. Tell us when the smell appears and whether there are leaks or visible dampness. We will inspect the AC and explain what can be addressed by cleaning and what needs further investigation.
What should I do if water is leaking?
Protect anything beneath the unit and stop using it if water could reach electrical equipment. Contact us with the location of the leak and a photograph if possible. A blocked drain is one possible cause, but the drain route and installation may also need checking.
My AC rattles or makes a new noise. Can a clean fix it?
Build-up or loose components can contribute to noise, but a new rattle should be assessed rather than assumed to need cleaning alone. Tell us when it happens and share a short recording. We can discuss inspection, cleaning and any repair work separately.
The AC is blowing warm air. What can I check?
Check the selected mode and temperature on the remote, and whether its batteries need replacing. If the unit still does not cool, arrange a technical assessment. Do not open electrical parts or attempt refrigerant work yourself.
Before and after your service
Do you take the whole air conditioner off the wall?
Suitable units are cleaned where they are installed, using specialist washing and water-collection equipment. We prepare and protect the area around the unit. Access, equipment type and condition determine the agreed work.
What do you need when I book?
Share your island or address, the number and type of AC units, the issue or service required and any access restrictions. A photo of the indoor unit and model label is useful. For workplaces, tell us about preferred working hours and the person arranging access.
How long will the visit take?
It depends on the unit type, number of units, condition and access. Tell us what you have when you enquire so we can discuss the scope and timing. We will explain the planned work rather than promise the same duration for every installation.
How often should I arrange professional cleaning?
Usage, dust, moisture and the manufacturer’s guidance all matter. A busy workplace and a lightly used bedroom may need different routines. We can help plan care around the actual equipment and its service history.
What happens if something is not right after the clean?
Contact the local team with your service details and explain what you have noticed. HydroKleen’s franchise guarantee sets out the satisfaction promise and other commitments. Leak-guarantee periods vary with climate and usage, so ask us to confirm the terms for your service.
Do you work with businesses and multiple premises?
Yes. We provide planned HVAC maintenance, equipment installation, project advice and technical training. Send us your equipment list, locations, operating hours and service history so we can plan the work with you.
Useful next steps
Tell us what your AC is doing.
A photo, a model number and a description of what has changed help us plan the right next step.
