Bigger is not automatically better

An oversized unit can cool a room quickly without removing enough moisture, leaving it feeling cool but clammy. A unit that is too small may struggle to maintain comfort. ENERGY STAR and Singapore’s National Environment Agency both advise matching the cooling capacity to the space.

Build a short room brief

  • Measure the room’s length, width and ceiling height.
  • Note large windows, direct sun and the room’s floor or roof exposure.
  • Tell us how many people normally use the room and what equipment generates heat.
  • Identify where the indoor unit, outdoor equipment and drainage could go.
  • Explain whether doors are frequently open or connect to other spaces.

Think about the installation as well

Two units with similar rated cooling can need very different installation arrangements. A conventional split system needs a suitable outdoor location. A system without a separate outdoor unit still has model-specific external-wall requirements. Access for cleaning and servicing matters too. Share photographs of the room and the proposed installation area before choosing a format.

A size chart is a starting point

Simple floor-area rules cannot capture every room. High ceilings, substantial glazing and additional heat sources can change the requirement. Ask for a room-specific assessment before ordering.

Compare the complete proposal

Ask what the installation includes, which electrical and drainage work is needed, and how the system will be maintained. HydroKleen can help you compare suitable products from our ranges and plan the work around your property.
